Aluviharaya Historical Temple
Aluviharaya is a rock cave temple featuring paintings and sculptures of Buddha.
Until the 1st century BC, Buddhist monks memorized the Buddha’s teachings and passed them on via word of mouth. The principles were then entirely written down as Ola Leaf manuscript in Pali by a group of 500 erudite monks from this monastery.
