Navam perahera

The Navam Perahera, organized annually in February, showcases Sri Lanka’s rich religious and cultural traditions. It takes place at Gangaramaya Historical Temple in the heart of Colombo city. Hundreds of monks in robes marching in the procession are a sight to behold. A beautiful elephant on its back carries sacred relics enclosed in a casket.
