Wasgamuwa National Park

Wasgamuwa forest, which was designated as a natural reserve in 1938, was designated as a national park in 1984, encompassing 36,900 acres. The park is located in the dry zone. As a result, the yearly rainfall ranges from 1650mm to 2100mm. The national park is home to 23 mammal species, 143 bird species, 15 amphibian species, 35 reptile species, 50 butterfly species, and 17 fish species.

The park is well-known for its sightings of wild elephants and sloth bears.
